ZINC OXIDE, CONCENTRATE

The Ohio Recycling Plant will generate a halide bearing zinc oxide concentrate that will be upgraded at ZincOx’s Big River Zinc facility, in Illinois.

EZO is determined through test-work and modelling to have the following composition:

BRZ will produce 66,513 tpa of oxide concentrate with a zinc grade of 71.6% and from which chlorides and fluorides, sodium and potassium will have been largely removed.

This EZO will have sufficient purity that it can be added into the circuits of conventional electro-refineries after the roasting step. Since many the production from many electro-refineries is constrained by the capacity of the roaster, being able to add zinc units after this step enables additional production.

In order to demonstrate that the EZO can be used in this way, EZO produced in the company’s pilot plant from an American EAFD blend, was added to electrolyte generated in an electro-refinery. The solution was passed through conventional zinc dust purification without problems, thus confirming the quality of the EZO.
